Hi!
I’m absolutely stuffed with mushroom soup and dumplings, and I hope you’ve also enjoyed lots of good food. Hopefully, you’re feeling just as full, cosy, and content as all my cats right now. And kudos to you for mustering the energy to open this post — it will be short and sweet, like a piece of Christmas poppy seed cake 🍰.
Today, much like all my cats, I was too lazy to accomplish anything productive — let alone write any code. Instead, I thought I’d share some of my favourite data analysis and visualisation resources that I like to come back to. Here’s the list:
Friends don’t let friends: a very good guide to good data visualisations. Don’t let your friends make bad figures, share this resource with them.
Grokking Algorithms and Adit’s notes: If you’ve ever wondered what binary search is, check out this book. And if you’ve never even heard of binary search, then you absolutely need to check it out.
Same stats, different graphs: If you’ve ever tried to run some stats without visualising the data first, take a look at the datasaurus datasets.
Statistics without tears: I wish someone had recommended this book to me when I started my undergrad studies.
I also like to follow the work of Gabrielle Merite, Federica Fragapane and Cédric Scherer, they post lots of good stuff.
Have fun tonight!
Aga
PS: Here is the survey in which you can tell me what R topic you find particularly confusing and why you want to learn it so that we can shape this space together!
